Cynthia is the grandmother, the cabaret singer, it is she who transmits to Amy the love of Jazz. When she disappeared in 2006, Amy Winehouse had her face tattooed on the old school pin-up bras.
2 - Sweet’n’Sour
She is 10 years old when with her best friend Juliette Ashby, she will found her rap group: Sweet'n'Sour.
3 - Her favorite brand
In 2010 Amy Winehouse collaborated with Fred Perry, her favorite brand, for a retro and rock style wardrobe.
4 - Frank
“Sinatra is God”, is the sentence she wrote in marker on the buttocks of her jeans.
Before the album “Back to Black”… There was Frank released on October 20, 2003 on Island Records.
In homage to one of her greatest influences, Frank Sinatra, she recorded this first album in 2003, which shows all her passion for jazz.
The first single from the album, "Stronger Than Me" was a success and in 2004 received an "Ivor Novello Award", a musical award given by the British Academy of Songwriters, for the best contemporary song.
5 - Rehab
"Mark Ronson and I were walking down a street in Soho and I hummed 'They tried to make me go to rehab but I said no.
Mark Ronson laughed and asked "That's so funny, Amy. Whose song is this?"
She will answer him: "I just improvised". Rehab was born.
Persona non grata on American soil and having been unable to obtain a visa for possession of drugs, Amy Winehouse will not be able to attend the Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles in 2008.
And it is from a concert hall in London that she will win the five awards, thus winning those of the best pop song for Rehab, the recording of the year, the song of the year, the best album Vocal Pop, and Best New Artist.
6 - Prince
Prince was a big fan and wanted to work with Amy Winehouse. They will resume together in 2007 Love is a Losing Game.
7 - Lioness
Amy Winehouse decides to found her own label in 2009, she will give it the name "Lioness".
This is what her grandmother Cynthia called her.
